Transhumance in the Ridnauntal valley

The farmers celebrate the safe return of their cows, goats and sheeps to valley. Pretty decorated animals are crossing Maiern town and return to their stable for wintering. The farmers offers local dishes such as 'Krapfen' and 'Schöpsernes' at the traditional farmer's market. Traditional music groups are playing along the day. and the so-called 'Goasslschnöller' are playing a special 'instrument'.

On Saturday, September 28th, the traditional alpine transhumance will take place in the Ridnauntal valley. The event starts at around 10.00 am, with the animals arriving at around 11.30 am in Maiern, where they are ceremoniously welcomed.
Food and drinks will be provided. Music and good entertainment are guaranteed.
Additionally to the ceremony, there will also be a traditional farmer's market with local delights.
